The 10 most affordable places to buy a home in the UK
Following on from last month’s most unaffordable UK homes blog, this month we are looking at the top 10 most affordable areas in the UK when compared to average salaries.
Stirling, Scotland was top of the country with average house prices costing just 3.3 times their average salary (£132,734).
In contrast to the most unaffordable homes, it appears that the most affordable are in the Northern regions of the United Kingdom with Northern Ireland having a large share.
No southern entries made the top 10 which shows the imbalance in the north/south divide. Could this be a result of the regions with easy access to the capital, London?
The UK housing market has grown sharply in some areas in the last year and with various Governmental Schemes such as Help to Buy, demand has risen for properties and people who previously struggled to get access to mortgages are finding it easier to step onto the property ladder.
Conclusively, it is evident that the Northern regions of the UK are the most affordable places to buy a home. The information presented however, does not take into account average household income (more than one individual).
