Landlord confidence growing
For the first time since 2007 it seems confidence amongst landlords is on the up and may continue to rise.
Independent research commissioned by Paragon Mortgages, and carried out by BDRC Continental shows that more landlords are adding to their portfolios and even more are planning to purchase buy-to-let property.
When asked to describe their expectations for the coming quarter, 57% of the landlords surveyed said that they were good or very good. This is the highest recorded since the start of the financial crisis.
The research also revealed that their most high-volume tenant type was young couples (54%)followed by young singles (49%) and families with children (47%), which could be a reflection of how difficult it has become for first time buyers to enter the property market.
John Heron, Managing Director of Paragon Mortgages said “Our own survey indicates that landlords remain positive about the future of the sector and are looking to expand their portfolios further in order to meet growing demand from private renters. I am pleased to see that confidence is growing and that it has reached its highest level post-credit crunch”.
